Cherry Willingham Community School Community Open Evening Thursday 6th July 2017 – 6pm-7pm

The announcement that Cherry Willingham Community School is to join the Priory Federation of Academies Trust has, understandably, prompted a lot of questions in the local area. With that in mind, CWCS and The Priory have arranged a Community Open Evening to help provide you with as many answers as possible.

The event is open to the school’s parents, prospective school parents and any connected party in the local community. The format will comprise a short presentation by the Trust’s Chief Executive, to be followed by a question and answer session and then another 30 minutes for you to talk to individual representatives from The Priory.

As I said in my letter to CWCS parents earlier this month, The Priory is delighted to be part of the next stage of CWCS’s future and we will do everything we can to shed as much light as possible on the road which lies ahead.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Pyjamas1.jpgThe year 10 GCSE Textiles students have been working on wrap around hospital gowns for children in hospital for a charity project called ‘Pyjama Fairies’. Due to the rules stipulated for the garments no fancy embellishmnent was permitted so students decided to fabric paint children's characters on the front and construct the garments independently in complimentary fabrics. Amanda from the charity phoned Miss Neal to compliment the students work saying “They are amazing and I will be taking them to all exhibitions we do to promote the charity”.

Well done Natasha Spinks, Shannon Wathall, Shannon Holden, Alice Hauton & Courntey Lawry.

As you may know, this Friday is “Children in Need” day.

It has therefore been decided to make this a non-uniform day, in aid of this worthwhile Charity. Each student will be expected to pay £1.00 to come to school in non-uniform.

On the day, there will be a competition for the student who wears the most spots.

At lunch and period 5 there will be events held so if you would like to take part in these you will need to bring money with you.

If you would like any more information please contact the school on 01522 751040.

Any additional contributions will be gratefully received.

The school had a fantastic day of activities to celebrate 50 years of history, with pupils and teachers adopting decades from the past for the day. Pictured is our "Back to the Future" car which took pride of place at the celebration assembly and reunion event, which saw former pupils reunited with former classmates from up to 50 years ago.

Students at Cherry celebrated an  excellent set of results this year with 63% of students achieving at least five GCSEs at A* to C. The year group as a whole made good progress, performing better than national expectations. There were excellent individual performances at all levels, with the highest performing students achieving 10 or more A or A* grades.

Deputy Headteacher, Mr Ian b2ap3_thumbnail_GCSE-Results.jpgPindar, said "We are really happy that the students have performed so well. The students and their teachers worked extremely hard and it is good to see that hard work rewarded. These results are a true reflection of the school's positive working ethos "
