Cherry Willingham Community School - A Pedestal of your own

“ This school has made me everything I am today: an academic, an achiever, and the highest scoring first year student in my degree. But it made me so much more than that as well. I am not a machine produced to pass exams. This school made me a friend, an ally. A person.

The thing about Cherry school is that, no matter who you are, what background you come from, what future you want, what abilities you have, you can thrive here. Anywhere else, you would be a face in the crowd. Here, you can stand on a pedestal of your own and be recognised as the individual achiever you are.“

E, former student

Mrs StilesAt Cherry Willingham Community School, we aim for every child to make outstanding progress. We provide good quality teaching in a calm and orderly learning environment as we endeavour to achieve the very best for our students.

Because we are a smaller than average secondary school, we know our students well, resulting in a school where every child really does matter. Starting with excellent transition arrangements in year 6 and continuing with our experienced Year teams, we provide the care, guidance and support that enables them to achieve their full potential.

In spite of our size, we are ambitious and this ambition is captured in our school motto of ‘Be Your Best’. Our students achieve good results, from students who achieve high grades at GCSE and go on to Sixth Form and University to those who achieve the vocational qualifications that lead to an apprenticeship, we help students succeed on the pathway that is best for them.

Although important, we do not see examination results as the only measure of success. Through our House system we provide a program of extra-curricular activities designed to promote students’ personal growth. These include trips and visits to destinations local, national and international as well as competitions and activities in a wide range of subject areas.

I am very proud to be the Headteacher of this delightful school and I warmly invite you to visit us.

Elaine Stiles

Cherry Willingham Community School Community Open Evening Thursday 6th July 2017 – 6pm-7pm

The announcement that Cherry Willingham Community School is to join the Priory Federation of Academies Trust has, understandably, prompted a lot of questions in the local area. With that in mind, CWCS and The Priory have arranged a Community Open Evening to help provide you with as many answers as possible.

The event is open to the school’s parents, prospective school parents and any connected party in the local community. The format will comprise a short presentation by the Trust’s Chief Executive, to be followed by a question and answer session and then another 30 minutes for you to talk to individual representatives from The Priory.

As I said in my letter to CWCS parents earlier this month, The Priory is delighted to be part of the next stage of CWCS’s future and we will do everything we can to shed as much light as possible on the road which lies ahead.
