At Cherry Willingham Community School, we aim for every child to make outstanding progress. We provide good quality teaching in a calm and orderly learning environment as we endeavour to achieve the very best for our students.
Because we are a smaller than average secondary school, we know our students well, resulting in a school where every child really does matter. Starting with excellent transition arrangements in year 6 and continuing with our experienced Year teams, we provide the care, guidance and support that enables them to achieve their full potential.
In spite of our size, we are ambitious and this ambition is captured in our school motto of ‘Be Your Best’. Our students achieve good results, from students who achieve high grades at GCSE and go on to Sixth Form and University to those who achieve the vocational qualifications that lead to an apprenticeship, we help students succeed on the pathway that is best for them.
Although important, we do not see examination results as the only measure of success. Through our House system we provide a program of extra-curricular activities designed to promote students’ personal growth. These include trips and visits to destinations local, national and international as well as competitions and activities in a wide range of subject areas.
I am very proud to be the Headteacher of this delightful school and I warmly invite you to visit us.
‘Leaders, governors and staff have established a culture and ethos where expectations are high and students strive to ‘be the best’ they can be. Students enjoy coming to school to learn, they have positive attitudes, behave well and have a good awareness of how to stay safe.’
‘Teachers provide their students with many and varied tasks which challenge and stimulate their interest.’
‘The vast majority of students treat each other and staff with genuine care and respect. They are polite and well-mannered, holding open doors and thanking others for their help.’
‘Students keep their exercise books in good order. They present themselves smartly in school uniform and express a great deal of pride at being a part of Cherry Willingham.’
‘The most able students in the school are identified through the school tracking systems. Teachers provide a range of extension activities, more difficult tasks and searching questions, as well as entering them for external events and competitions to boost their achievements.’
